The mistake we would warn you about
Naming tools instead of findings. "Built dashboards in Tableau" tells a hiring manager nothing; "found that 60% of churn happened in week one and moved onboarding spend" tells them everything.
Bullet points that work for data analysts
Each one opens with an action verb, says what was done, and ends with a result.
- Found that 60% of churn happened in the first week, redirecting $400K of retention spend to onboarding.
- Built the company’s first cohort model, which became the metric reported to the board each month.
- Cut the weekly reporting cycle from 2 days to 20 minutes by replacing 14 spreadsheets with a dbt model.
- Showed a proposed discount would lose money at every tested level, preventing a launch already scheduled.
